๐ŸŽฌ Movies and You

Privacy Policy ยท Last updated July 8, 2026

The short version

Movies and You collects no data. Your watchlist, watch history, moods, notes, and everything else you enter stay on your device. We have no servers, no accounts, no analytics, no ads, and no trackers.

Data stored on your device

Everything the app saves โ€” titles you track, streaming services, who you saved a recommendation for, watch dates, verdicts, moods, and notes โ€” is stored locally on your iPhone in the app's private database. If you delete the app, that data is deleted with it.

Your TMDB API key

If you choose to add a TMDB API key to enable search, the key is stored securely in the iOS Keychain on your device. It is never transmitted anywhere except directly to TMDB as part of your own search requests.

Third-party service: TMDB

When you search for a movie or show (only if you've added an API key), your search text is sent to The Movie Database (TMDB) to fetch results, posters, and streaming availability. These requests are governed by the TMDB privacy policy. The app sends no personal information with these requests. This product uses the TMDB API but is not endorsed or certified by TMDB. Streaming availability data is provided by JustWatch via TMDB.

Sharing

When you share a watch-again list, the app uses the standard iOS share sheet. What you share, and with whom, is entirely under your control; the app never sends anything on its own.

Notifications

Watch reminders are local notifications scheduled on your device. They never leave it.

Children

The app does not collect data from anyone, including children.

Changes

If a future version of the app changes any of the above (for example, optional iCloud sync of your own data via Apple's CloudKit), this policy will be updated here first.
